The glass of my candle has blackened. What can I do?
Black marks can be removed, when the candle is extinguished, using a cloth dampened with hot water and soap. Be careful not to leave any moisture on the glass or the wax before lighting your candle.
Here are some usage tips to help you avoid this issue:
- Regularly trim the wick to 3 to 5 mm, as this will allow the candle to burn longer and prevent the wick from producing smoke or falling blackened into the liquid wax.
- Be sure to recenter the wick in the wax after each use. This will allow for more even consumption of the wax. It will also help prevent the wick from getting too close to the glass, which could cause the candle to overheat.
