How can I take care of my candle?

An exceptional handcrafted creation, your Diptyque candle deserves the utmost care. Here are some tips to optimize its lifespan and enjoy it safely.

    Prepare the space

    - Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface.

    - Protect delicate materials such as wood or marble with a base or a tray.

    - Keep candles away from flammable materials.

    - Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

    Lighting the candle

    - We recommend lighting your candle with a match to avoid any risk of burns.

    - For the first use, be sure to let the candle burn until its entire surface is liquid:

    • About 2 hours for miniature candles (35g), depending on the scent
    • About 4 hours for small candles (70g), classic candles (190g), medium candles (300g), large candles (600g), and very large candles (1.5kg)
    • About 5 hours for Les Mondes de Diptyque candles

This prevents the wax from tunneling and allows the wick to fully soak, ensuring even burning thereafter. The wick may emit a slight smoke on the first lighting.

    During burning

    - After the first use, do not let the candle burn for more than:

    • 2 hours continuously for miniature candles (35g)
    • 4 hours continuously for small candles (70g), classic candles (190g), medium candles (300g), large candles (600g), and very large candles (1.5kg)
    • 5 hours continuously for Les Mondes de Diptyque candles

    - Never leave a burning candle unattended.

    - Do not move a burning or still hot candle.

    - Keep it away from drafts.

    - Leave at least 10 cm (4 inches) between two candles.

    After each use

    - Extinguish the flame: use a snuffer to avoid splattering hot wax.

    - Recenter the wick(s) once the candle is extinguished.

    - Before relighting your candle, use a wick trimmer to cut the wick(s) (ideal length: 3 to 5 mm) to prevent any fire risk.

    End of use

    - Stop using your candle when only 5 mm of wax remains or when the metal wick holder becomes visible. Maintenance and storage - We recommend airing the room after burning a candle.

    - Let the wax cool completely before moving your candle.

    - Store it in a dry and temperate place (15 °C–25 °C / 59 °F–77 °F), away from direct sunlight to prevent the wax from discoloring, pigmenting, or peeling.
