How can I care for my candle?

A handcrafted creation of exceptional quality, your Diptyque candle deserves the utmost care. Here are some tips to optimize its lifespan and enjoy it safely.

    Prepare the space

    - Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface.

    - Protect delicate materials such as wood or marble with a base or a tray.

    - Keep candles away from flammable materials.

    - Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

    Lighting the candle

    - We recommend lighting your candle with a match to avoid any risk of burns.

    - For the first use, make sure to let the candle burn until the entire top surface is liquid:

    • About 2 hours for miniature candles (35g), depending on the fragrance
    • About 4 hours for small candles (70g), classic candles (190g), medium candles (300g), large candles (600g), and very large candles (1.5kg)
    • About 5 hours for Les Mondes de Diptyque candles

This prevents the wax from tunneling and allows the wick to soak properly, ensuring even burning thereafter. The wick may emit a slight smoke upon the first lighting.

    While burning

    - After the first use, do not let the candle burn for more than:

    • 2 consecutive hours for miniature candles (35g)
    • 4 consecutive hours for small candles (70g), classic candles (190g), medium candles (300g), large candles (600g), and very large candles (1.5kg)
    • 5 consecutive hours for Les Mondes de Diptyque candles

    - Never leave a burning candle unattended.

    - Do not move a burning or still-hot candle.

    - Keep it away from drafts.

    - Leave at least 10 cm (4 inches) between two candles.

    After each use

    - Extinguish the flame: use a snuffer to avoid splattering hot wax.

    - Recenter the wick(s) once the candle is extinguished.

    - Before relighting your candle, use a wick trimmer to trim the wick(s) (ideal length: 3 to 5 mm) to avoid any fire risk.

    End of use

    - Stop using your candle when only 5 mm of wax remains or when the metal support of the wick becomes visible.

    - Let the wax cool completely before moving your candle.

    - Store it in a dry, temperate area (15°C–25°C / 59°F–77°F), away from direct sunlight to prevent the wax from discoloring, pigmenting, or dislodging.
