What are the Diptyque's codes?
Each code embodies a heritage built over decades, shaping and defining our visual language.
- The oval
A symbol of art and history, a refined frame that borders creative freedom. An emblem placed on candles, perfumes, and decorative objects.
- The scent burner
At the heart of the oval, it evokes rituals of the past, releases wisps, and asserts the craft of perfumer-storytellers.
- The dancing letters
Playful calligrams where the name becomes a drawing; visual enigmas inspired by the fragrances, a nod to Desmond Knox-Leet’s past as a cryptologist.
- The drawing
Each fragrance has its landscape, and each landscape its fragrance. Always created in tandem, the drawings reflect the distinctiveness of the brand, inherited from the founders who illustrated their memories and sensations through panoramic illustrations.
- Black & white and colors
The intensity of deep black ink, animated by its dancing script, meets the pristine white of the canvas. Together, they compose a delicate dialogue of contrasts, between presence and emptiness.
- The “O”
A sound and visual leitmotif, it echoes every Eau, symbolizing both the first Diptyque eau de toilette and the shape of the oval. This letter is found in all fragrance names.
